Privacy
How skyedesk.app and the Skye Desk app handle your personal information.
Who we are
Skye Chiu (“we”, “us”) operates the website skyedesk.app and the Skye Desk desktop app for macOS. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact: support@skyedesk.app.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what information we collect through skyedesk.app, the release-news sign-up, the feedback form, support email and the Skye Desk app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Website analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies. Visitors are counted with a hash of the request (IP address and browser user agent) that resets every 24 hours, so visits cannot be linked across days or across other websites, and the IP address itself is not stored. We see aggregated figures such as pages viewed, referring sites, country, browser, operating system and device type.
Release news. If you sign up, we store your email address, the wording you agreed to, when you signed up, when you confirmed and, if you leave, when you unsubscribed. We send a confirmation email first and add you only after you click the link in it (double opt-in). The sign-up form is not active yet: until it is, addresses are checked in your browser and discarded without being sent or stored.
Feedback. If you use the feedback form, we store your message, the category you chose, the app and macOS versions you enter and, only if you provide it, your email address so we can reply.
Support email. If you write to us, we receive your message, your email address and anything you attach.
Hosting logs. Our hosting provider processes standard technical request data (such as IP address, time and requested page) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
The desktop app. Your projects, images, captions and settings stay on your Mac. The app does not upload them on its own; cloud features act only when you start them. Account sign-in is optional and not yet available; when it is, the provider you choose (for example Google, GitHub or Apple) will share your account identifier, email address, display name and avatar with us. Credentials are kept in the macOS Keychain.
Why we use it
- To deliver and secure the website (our legitimate interest in running a reliable site).
- To understand which pages are useful, using aggregated analytics (legitimate interest).
- To send release news you asked for (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To read and answer feedback and support requests (legitimate interest in improving Skye Desk, and steps you ask us to take).
- To provide optional account features once available (performing our agreement with you).
Service providers
We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf under their own data-processing terms:
- Vercel — website hosting, request logs and Web Analytics.
- Supabase — database for release-news sign-ups and feedback.
- Resend — sending confirmation and release-news emails.
- ImprovMX — forwarding mail sent to skyedesk.app addresses.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed release-news sign-ups: deleted within 30 days.
- Release-news subscribers: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we never email you again; ask us and we will delete it completely.
- Feedback and support messages: as long as needed to handle them, and no longer than 24 months.
- Analytics: aggregated figures only; the daily visitor hash is discarded after 24 hours.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from release news with the link in every email. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email support@skyedesk.app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Skye Desk is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
We limit access to personal information, store it with providers that encrypt data in transit and at rest, and never ask for passwords or API keys by email. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will say so on the website and, for subscribers, in a release-news email.
